The films in this list deal, in one way or another, with the artists’ own life. Sometimes this is treated in a documentary fashion and at other times the accounts are more fragmentary and unreliable. Some works take the form of a diary, while others approach the past through active recreation, or the examination of images, memories and environments. The resulting works vary greatly in tone, from the comic to the confrontational and confessional.
