Dear Applicant INTERNSHIPS AT LUX Thank you for your interest in work experience at LUX. LUX is a small friendly arts organisation based in East London and interns provide a vital role in the support of our programme of activities. We offer internships in a number of areas of the organisation's work, (see below for more details) please specify your interest areas when applying. LUX can offer you experience in a professional arts context which has a diverse range of activities, and it is important to us that internships are enabling and useful for those that undertake them. We expect you to be able to commit you a certain length of time, usually a minimum of three months at one day a week although more concentrated periods may be possible. We expect interns to be committed, flexible, engaged and able to work effectively as part of a small team as well as on their own initiative. LUX internships are unpaid but we are able to pay a small amount towards travel and food expenses. The amount of internships we have varies from time to time, if we don't have anything available at the time we will keep your application on file until an opportunity arises, and get in contact. INTERNSHIP AREAS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AT LUX Distribution/Archiving internship To help with maintenance of the LUX archive, including checking and repairing film prints, re-mastering videotapes, assisting curators researching the LUX collection. This internship involves watching lots of artists' work so is especially good for developing a broad knowledge of artists' moving image work. LUXONLINE technical internship Working on the technical aspects of Luxonline, the LUX online resource for British artists film and video. Includes scanning and preparation of video, images and text for web, transforming data into styled web-pages, user testing of website. This internship is particularly useful for those who wish to gain experience of web technologies. LUXONLINE content research internship Working on the content development of Luxonline. Includes working to put content information about Luxonline artists on the site, editing and proofreading texts, scanning articles, researching and clearing copyright. This internship is useful for those who have an interest in learning more about the history of artists' film and video and wish to gain editing and research skills, for print and web publishing. Press & Marketing internship Helping with a variety of aspects of LUX's marketing and publicity, including researching press contacts, contact lists, preparing press releases, making stills for publicity, organising mailouts, etc. Project Internships These are available on an occasional basis and are separately advertised on the LUX jobs page when available.
